Nerissa Picadizo

NERISSA PICADIZO won “Best Indie Producer” in the shorts category of the International Film Festival Manhattan 2014 in New York City for her film ASTRAY. She was one of the honorees at the “5th Inquirer Indie Bravo” Awards given by the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Picadizo was one of the awardees for cinema at “The 7th ANI NG DANGAL” Awards, a presidential award given by NCCA. Nerissa was also a 2016 “Sangguniang Bayan” awardee, the highest honor given by a local government to its Outstanding Citizen.

 

Picadizo directed, wrote and produced REQUITED, a feature film main-competition finalists at the highly regarded Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2017. She also directed, wrote and produced two short films “STRESSFUL X” and “ASTRAY”; aside from directing a TV travel show, music videos and AVPs. She is the Producer of two feature length films “The Solar Champion”  and “Mga Anino sa Tanghaling Tapat” (Shadows of Noon) which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2011 Cinema One Original Film Festival. Picadizo has also produced numerous other short films.

From hundreds of entry submissions that were carefully chosen down to 25 semi-finalists up until the coveted Top 10 Finalists were finally selected, “REQUITED” directed, written and produced by Nerissa Picadizo is one of the filmmakers who made it in the elite list.

CINEMALAYA is the Philippines’ most prestigious and most popular local festival that keeps growing every year. The 13th CINEMALAYA Philippine Independent Film Festival was held last August 4-13, 2017.

Awardee for Cinema at “The 7th ANI NG DANGAL” 2015

Director/producer NERISSA PICADIZO was one of the awardees at “The 7th ANI NG DANGAL” Awards (Harvest of Honors); a presidential award given to recognize and celebrate Filipino talents who have earned international awards and accolades.

Spearheaded by The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the awarding was held at the Old Senate Session Hall of the National Museum of the Philippines last February 12, 2015.

Nerissa Picadizo was bestowed as a “Sangguniang Bayan Awardee” (in the field of Arts/Filmmaking) by the government of Angono, Rizal. The Sangguniang Bayan award is the highest honor given by a local government to its Outstanding Citizen. The award was given by government officials of Angono headed by Mayor Gerry Calderon, Vice-Mayor Antonio Rubin and all the councilors of Angono, Rizal.

Starring Jake Cuenca and Anna Luna, “REQUITED” is about a disease-stricken biker who wants to conquer a treacherous terrain on one final adventure that pitted him against nature and the woman he desires. The film’s main location was set in the majestic Mt. Pinatubo Lake.

ASTRAY is an unrequited love story between a free-spirited woman (Angel Aquino) who openly expresses her affection to a younger shy woman (Althea Vega) who is struggling with her own feelings.

ASTRAY film director/producer Nerissa Picadizo was one of the awardees at “The 7th ANI NG DANGAL” Awards (Harvest of Honors); a presidential award given to recognize and celebrate Filipino talents who have earned international awards and accolades.

Full Synopsis

Matt (Jake Cuenca) is driven by one ultimate goal: to bike all the way from Manila to Mt. Pinatubo Lake to defy his ill-fated life. His body is ravaged by Parkinson’s disease and a faltering faith; but his resilience to live and end life on his own terms carries him through. He encounters a road block in Sandy (Anna Luna) who ironically is the person he’s running away from and “the one” he wants to be with most.

 

In their biking trip, Matt and Sandy’s different personalities collide with each other in spite of their unlikely endearing qualities together. Verbal battles constantly arise that spills out the nature of their complicated relationship. From facebook status quarrels, unanswered phone call arguments, their past conflicts, Sandy’s self-absorption as a star-volleyball player, Matt’s annoyance of Sandy’s striking tiger print helmet and all their repressed feelings resurfaces in their journey. Biking through the tough terrains and lahar-filled lands of Mt. Pinatubo they experience many challenges on the road. As Sandy gets tangled in Matt’s anger and desperation, she becomes an unwitting sacrifice for his redemption.

Nerissa Picadizo wins “Best Indie Producer”

Director/Producer Nerissa Picadizo won the “Best Indie Producer” for ASTRAY in the shorts category at the recently concluded International Film Festival Manhattan. The Awards Night last October 23, 2014 was held at the Philippine Consulate General in Manhattan, New York.

Other Filipino winners of the festival are Jake Cuenca for Best Actor in “Mulat”, Liza Dino for Best Actress in “In Nomine Matris”, Mark Justine Aguillon for Best Actor short in “Traffic Light”, Best Ensemble Short went to Roberto Reyes Ang’s “TNT” starring Perry Escano, Diane Ventura for Best Director Global in “Mulat” and director Will Fredo’s “In Nomine Matris” grabbed the Best Feature Film title.
